Reflection for 20th January 2013

Christian Unity Week is 18 – 25 January

Unity does not mean uniformity. One of the joys of Christianity is its ability to serve the needs, ideas, nationalities and image of God making it available to a multitude of different people in all manner of circumstances.

We have more that unites us than that separates us; and so working towards harmony in this knowledge is something to continue to strive for and to be celebrated; not fought over.

Someone once said….

“The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting.
It has been found difficult and left untried.”

The Christian Unity Week theme for our prayers this year is:
“What Does God Require of Us?”
Micah 6: 6-8

One answer to this question could be to acknowledge the difficulty and yet work steadfastly towards the unity God longs for.
