Christmas Day Dinner

A chance to share in God’s abundance as we eat a Christmas meal cooked up by chefs of all faiths and nations using food that has been rejected by our crazy food system and we share with many who would otherwise be alone or hungry at this time of feasting.

Unity shenanigans

Praise God for a wonderful weekend. Saturday was Hyde Park Unity Day, and we teamed up with Christian and Muslim friends to host a stall…

unity day 1 setup

We had HUNDREDS of visitors, and invited them to do three things:

1. Taste some food that is found in Bible and/or Quran (grapes, figs, dates, pomegranate, olives, bread and olive oil)

unity day 2 fruits of our faiths

2. Make a mark on our ‘arty heart’. See how many languages you can spot- and keep an eye out for little baby Willow’s footprints!

unity day 6 arty heart

3. Go do a Random Act of Kindness, and then come back and tell us about it. We wrote them up (there were hundreds!) on colourful cards, to make kindness bunting.

unity day 5 acts of kindness

It was a super day, full of generosity and joy. And the Unity continued into Sunday! We had a picnic Eucharist with St Michael’s and St Chad’s and friends from Revive. But not before clearing a big field of litter, and putting huge smiles on the Unity Day organisers’ faces ๐Ÿ™‚

Praise God and THANK YOU and a big hurray!

Rainbow reflections at Rosebank

freedom day SA

Your vicar got to do a lovely thing this morning โ€“ I led school assembly at Rosebank Primary, with Dr Taher from Leeds Grand Mosque. On the day my home country South Africa celebrates the end of apartheid, we talked about ending modern ‘apartheid’ between our (and other) faiths and cultures. We celebrated that God has made us all different and amazing โ€“ and that our differences can enrich each other’s lives. The children all left the assembly hall shouting ‘You’re amazing!’ at each other and their teachers ๐Ÿ™‚ Praise God!

Leeds Grand MosqueWe had an exciting meeting at Leeds Grand Mosque the other day, to plan a few ways to serve God and Hyde Park together into 2016 with the Mosque leaders and local police.

5 Pillars of Islamophobia

Several Muslim friends have asked us along to this event, which looks insightful and interesting. Your vicar is going to accept the invitation- will anyone come with me?? ๐Ÿ™‚

Cornershop Capers

Your vicar has just spent an amazing day ‘on duty’ in the local cornershop (Noshi Food Store) next to Leeds Grand Mosque. I was welcomed- and put to work- by the friendly and wonderful Naveed and Arif (whose smile you might recognise in this pic)
