Daily Prayers

We are a community that is spread across Leeds and beyond. As a way of helping us feel that we belong together and to each other we encourage each other to share these prayers in our own way at the beginning and end of each day.

PRAYER AT START OF DAY

The night is past and the day lies open before us
Let us pray with one heart and mind

“The wilderness shall rejoice;
the desert shall blossom and burst into song” (Isaiah 35)

We pray: for ourselves and others, especially the sick,
the lonely, the troubled, the sorrowful, the dying…
for forgiveness, help, or with thanks for God’s blessings…

… Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer

“O give thanks to the Lord for he is good;
His mercy endures for ever” (from psalm 118)

The Lord’s Prayer
God in heaven, mother and father of us all, hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us each day our daily bread and forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever.
Amen

Blessed are you, Belovèd our God.
Pour out your Spirit on us this day, that we may walk in trust and generosity, bearers of the simplicity of the gospel – love, joy, peace.
Amen

PRAYER AT END OF DAY

The Lord grant us a quiet night and perfect end. Amen
Our help is in the name of the Lord who made heaven and earth

“Nothing in all Creation … can separate us from the love of God which is ours in Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 8 verses 38-9)

We pray:
for people we have come into contact with today;
for our mistakes; concerns; blessings received;
and the tasks of tomorrow …

… Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer

“In peace I will lie down and sleep,
for it is you, Lord, who make me dwell in safety” (from Psalm 4)

The Lord’s Prayer
God in heaven, mother and father of us all, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us each day our daily bread and forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. May the light and peace of Jesus Christ be with us all. Amen.
