A huge “THANK YOU” to all of you who turned up on Saturday to help with the work morning, and a special thank you to Jan who stepped in as chef at the last minute when the chef, Rev Steve, was unable to attend. We were greatly encouraged when on Sunday morning a lot of people noticed the difference to the worship area which now looks so much tidier. The plants also look a lot healthier thanks to some TLC from green-fingered Catherine.
The biggest difference though is probably not going to get noticed by many people and that it is because it happened down in the basement where we managed to make a major start on tidying things up and cleaning the floor. Over the next few months we will be sorting through a lot of the stuff down there and putting surplus items for re-use or recycling.
Some of the more interesting things we found were:
– a Mother’s Union banner from St Margaret’s;
– Jesus praying in a cupboard (a statue, probably also from St Margaret’s);
– a small Christmas tree down the back of the cupboard which reminded us that we were preparing the church for Advent!
I think we all felt encouraged by what we achieved and we will be organising another work morning in January.
