Lord, make me a channel of disturbance,
Where there is apathy, let me provoke.
Where there is compliance with sin, let me bring challenge.
Where there is silence at injustice, may I be a voice.
Where there is too much comfort and too little action,
To grant disruption.
Where doors are closed and hearts locked,
the courage to push against them
and willingness to listen.
When laws dictate and pain is overlooked…
When “tradition” speaks louder than need, or anguish…
When we refuse to take control of our own lives….
Our own church….our own poor,
near at hand and far away….
Disturb us, dear Lord, teach us to be radically Christian;
following our Master,
seeking to do justice…
rather than talk about it.
To be with, as well as for, the poor;
to love the unlovable as well as the lovely,
to touch the passion of Jesus in the pain
we encounter in those we meet.
To accept responsibility to be Church he called us to be.
Lord, make me a channel of disturbance.
