O Lord! O my Dear God!
Such a strong rain!
It is washing away several days, weeks and even months of very hard labour.
Nevertheless, I give you thanks, my dear God,
Because this rain that is causing me so much trouble,
Perhaps is bringing joy and happiness to other people.
Prayer of a poor Haitian farmer
This kind of prayer comes from a heart that may be weighed down with troubles, illness, fears, loneliness, worries, confusion… yet behind all of these things which beset us all at one time or another, there is both a deep knowledge, often counter-intuitive, that ‘All shall be well’ – and also a desire, despite our low fortune, that others may be blessed, even by what causes us distress…
(Reflections are provided each week by a member of the congregation.)
