Our Community “Free Shop” was open for one last day on Monday and it was reported in the Yorkshire Evening Post
Over the four days that the shop was open we cleared nearly 5 tonnes of “stuff” left by students as they moved out of their homes.
Heston said: “We’ve had mountains of clothes, pots, pans, plates, crockery and cutlery. These have been massively appreciated by the asylum seekers and refugee folks who aren’t given the means of having the daily, useful things like that. To see them coming in and taking things with massive smiles on their faces is really lovely. It’s really amazing what’s been left behind.” Amongst all of the stuff we have also had a bike, microwaves and TVs as well as a three-piece sofa.
