The BBC visit All Hallows!

Yesterday we were visited by a film crew from the BBC who were filming TRJFP @ All Hallows for Songs of Praise. The program is to be shown this coming Sunday afternoon so please do watch and let us know what you think of the project.

You can see some photos of the film crew and the cafe volunteers in action on the cafe website.

Poverty Inc

“Poverty Inc is an eye opening documentary which asks some difficult questions about the attempts to alleviate poverty in the developing world. The West has initiated a vast multi-billion dollar poverty industry but the results have been mixed, in some cases even catastrophic, and leaders in the developing world are growing increasingly vocal in calling for change. Poverty Inc unearths an uncomfortable side of charity we can no longer ignore.”

The film, Poverty Inc has been shown as part of the Leeds Film Festival, it was so popular that it is being rescreened on Tuesday 18th Nov, 2014, 18:00 at Leeds Town Hall – Albert Room (£8 / £6) – see

On Wednesday 19th November from 7:45pm at All Hallows, WDM will be hosting a pay-as-you-feel dinner and discussion evening celebrating the release of the film POVERTY, INC, food will be provided by TRJFP@All Hallows café. See for more details.

You don’t need to have seen the film in order to come along but it might help! A few clips of the film will be shown on Wednesday night.

It would be appreciated if you signed up on or let us know that you are coming so that we cater for the right numbers!

A (sort of) retirement

Today we celebrated the amazing work of Sonia and Iris over the years as part of the Community Project and as stalwarts of the “Cafe Crew”.

The cake below was made by the amazing Elaine. Look at the incredible detail! Can you spot the cups of tea, the beans or the marigolds? What else can you spot and how does it fit the story of Sonia and Iris?

If you have memories or comments about Sonia and Iris and the work that they have done do please add them here!
